Radiata - the game that broke me

The summer sun shines brilliantly, clear blue sky and pure white entrance clouds, at the sanatorium beyond that green ridge, I met them. And an unforgettable summer begins.

Dear Pandapenguins and Hero Pandara, contact me if you can - i am a composer, so i wish we could try to work together, like i could try to make music for your next projects. I'm going to make my first release later, and in the future i would like to write a musical album based on Radiata story, and some other visual novels characters, which changed me for better.

It's really hard to find some information about it's creators since look like they didn't release anything after this story, and didn't see any contacts on their website archived version, but i wish to contact with them, and say thanks.

Introduction

Recently i completed a visual novel called "Radiata" made by PANDAPENGUINS and Hero Pandara, and this been one of the most emotional experiances in my life.

I think everyone sometimes have this kind of feeling like "this is the end of my journey", and i'm feeling it too, since i made a decision to stop playing visual novels.

Not because they're bad, but because i found a perfect story, and i think no one could make better for me anymore. I'm always being in search of something that change my life forever - i felt it when i played Katawa Shoujo (Rin's route), and feeling it right now.

I find this game by pure coincidance, just searching for novels to play, from my favorite translators - Insani.org, since they're transle some of my favorite novels of all time, like True Remembrance. It's really crazy, but translation started in 2009, almost completed by mid-2009, and then dropped for 14 years, until it's release in 2023, as stated on insani website.

This is a little bit sad, and thinking about this game could never reach to me a little bit sad.

Story and feelings

Wow, Mirai's shown me a real dominant side of her ... WAIT DOES THIS MAKE ME A SUB? - Souta Kugayama

This is a story about 17 years old boy Shouta, who is visiting his grandfather, hospital worker on summer vacation - he meets two girls, Sakura and Mirai, and this two weeks going to change his life forever.

I started playing just for fun, after hard day in university, played a little bit and continued the same day before going to my bed - it's been an unusual feeling when i've got my first ending (Sakura C) in 1.5 hours. On this day i cried so much - i just cannot imagine how someone could put such innocent and the same time sad story in 1.5 hour route.

This made me interested in this game, i recommended it to my friends on the next day, and then i continue to play - the next week i've got the next ending, and it made my emotions on it's peak, because of it's brilliant and heartwarming music, awesome art from Hero Pandara, and a short but sublime writing style.

When i started playing this game, i tought it's a romantic comedy, because of it's cute artstyle, fun music and some comical situations - but every day you underatand some more about each girl and yourself, sometimes people hiding a really dark secrets, but could you accept their feelings or made a decision to stop?

Some of endings are really unusual, like Sakura Ending B, which is really out of place in context of this videogame. Remember, like playing for the first time i just cannot move my hands for a few minuites, trying to accept this sad story.

Even this is a fictional story, but it's really affected me, maybe even more than Katawa Shoujo did to me back in January 2025. But at the end, you can visit a Hint Corner, a place where you can get some help for getting certain ending.

Hint corner and Endings

This atmosphere of Hint Corner is really diffirent, a versions of main characters from alternative universe (even more cartoonish), always make some jokes, laugh and doing clumsy things trying to help you, which makes me belive like the story ends better, like this is all just a romantic fantasy of three friends, making me forget this heartbreaking moments at lease for a few minuites.

Even this game have a hint corner, some of endings is too hard to get, so i debug it's source code by yourself, to understand script, and now i want to write a walkthrought, to help everyone who wants to understand this beautiful story.

I belive the best way getting every ending in this game, it's from start to finish - since this story is pretty short, it tooks about 5 hours to get all the endings without skipping, every time starting a new game.

For getting every ending you've got a bonus CG, and for getting all the endings you unlock an comments from it's creators, and i belive it's must-read, because it gives you more perspective on storyline and it's development process.

This games is also have a secret bad ending - you get nothing for unlocking it, but i also discribe it in my game walktrought guide.

Conclusion

This game is not a philisophical magnum opus, and the same says to us it's creators in afterwords, but i just cannot ignore the fact this game still not so popular - almost all users played this game after Insani translation in 2023, so we can say this game being hidden almost for 17 years. I hope after my review at lease one person try to play it, even to get a single ending. And it makes me happy! It's a woholesome love story, without any kind of adult erotic content! So i belive everyone could enjoy it, and find something interesting!

I'm proud to be a fan of Radiata, and i belive, when you found something really unique - you should share it with others. It's autors says in afterwords some pissimistic things about the final videogame they're released, but i don't belive in this words, i see they are put their sweat and soul into it, and release it for free to share their feelings with us. Making a bad game you cannot made someone cry, but this game even made a Sakura my waifu!

In the Hint Corner Sakura says she have 5 billion fans, BUT I BELIVE I AM #1, ISN'T? :>
